AN EVENING AT RALPH’S CLUB
Exclusive portraits capture the elegance and glamour of Ralph Lauren’s Fall 2019 presentation“I always thought a woman in a tuxedo was sexier than a girl in a gown,” Ralph Lauren once said, and his Fall 2019 Collection is an ode to that rule-breaking woman—powerful, elegant, and endlessly alluring. For his latest runway presentation, Ralph Lauren drew inspiration from the Stork Club, El Morocco, and other glamorous supper clubs of the early 20th century, transforming 48 Wall Street, an Art Deco gem built in 1928, into Ralph’s Club, complete with a black lacquer bar, bouquets of delphiniums, and accents of silver and gold. A 12-piece jazz band performed under a white Art Deco proscenium as champagne was served from silver punch bowls and models walked the runway in Ralph Lauren’s meticulously reimagined eveningwear, followed by an unforgettable performance by Janelle Monáe, above, alongside Ralph and Ricky Lauren.
Throughout the evening, photographer Joel Griffith captured VIP attendees in vignettes that harkened back to the glamour of Hollywood from the days of Rita Hayworth and Fred Astaire. Below, a selection of our favorite portraits from the night.
